Our pottery classes are designed to give you both technical skills and artistic freedom. Depending on the course model you choose — Try the Wheel, 2-Day Wheel, or Intensive Wheel — you’ll experience different levels of depth and practice.
Try the Wheel
- Introduction to working with clay: how to prepare it and what to avoid
- Basic wheel-throwing techniques: centering, opening, and pulling up the walls.
- First forms: bowls, cups, and small vessels. Or anything the clay decides.
- Color: pick your favorite glaze colors for each piece.
2-Day Wheel
- Building on the basics: tips for centering and achieving even walls.
- More complex forms: larger vessels, matching sets and specific ideas.
- Trimming: fine tuning your shapes and adding a nice bottom, foot rings or texture.
- Color: pick your favorite glazes.
- Understanding the process: what happens after throwing and trimming, how high do we fire, what is glazing and how long does it take to finish your ceramics.
Intensive Wheel (and mini)
- Immersive training: plenty of hours on the wheel, repeated practice, and individual feedback.
- Trimming: giving your pieces a nice finish, adding textures, handles and your own touch.
- Glazing: experimenting with different glazing techniques, combinations, troubleshooting glaze issues and creative expression.
- From start to finish: at the end, you’ll have a collection or a signature pieces that reflects your creativity and new skills.
